Black Lives Matter
The Cortland Review is outraged by the horrifying murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, and the countless other victims of racist violence and police brutality. We grieve for them, while recognizing that no list of lost lives can fully represent hundreds of years of white supremacy in the United States. The Cortland Review supports the fight against systemic racism and oppression of Black people and stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and people demanding justice and accountability for systems that perpetuate injustice and inequality against Black people and communities of color. The Cortland Review is committed to amplifying Black voices and the work of writers of color, and we affirm our commitment to editorial practices that uplift poems by and reviews of authors of color.
In solidarity,
The Cortland Review
