Save Our Ocean
by Randy Scott Slavin

Editor's Note

Award-winning filmmaker and surrealist photographer, Randy Scott Slavin accomplishes his stunning 'Alternate Perspective' landscapes with a super wide-angle 'fisheye' lens and the technique of merging up to 100 photos to build a distorted scene. "I've continually tried to take concepts to the next level, to push the ideas to be more engaging, moving, and stimulating." It's a philosophy not new to The Cortland Review whose own 15-year mission has been to marry poetry and technology with that same goal. Slavin photographs landscapes we all recognize, but it's in the art of process and presentation that what we see becomes a magical experience. If you're even the least bit interested in poetry, that last sentence has to make you smile.

  • Get the latest poetry news, now updated weekly on our home page.
  • Listen to our new Poetry Streamer for more audio. All 1000 poets in our archives are randomly selected to read on our own radio station of poetry. You'll see the poet's photo, the title of the poem, and the page on which the poem appeared is accessible by link. You never know who will pop up. It could even be you.

Are you a Photoshop expert? An HTML whiz? an audio guru? The Cortland Review is building a deeper technical staff and is looking for poetry lovers with skills in these areas. If you're interested in volunteering to serve the art form, send a brief note with your resume and a cover letter.
