Alerting The Gods
Between the bricks that are hours
A mortar hardens, fusing
Love's seasonless concern
To undress you, with lying down
Together on your white bed,
The down comforter bunching
Beneath us.
Time shouts
At touch and longing echoes.
I'm beyond the casing of skin
But know no better expression
Than the tremble of fingers
Over freckles to alert the gods
We're alive, how touch shatters
The reddened shapes we're born in.
